Biketoberfest 2009

To die hard bikers, autumn means one thing: Biketoberfest®.  The award-winning Daytona Beach Florida motorcycle festival kicks off the fall season October 15-18, 2009.

“Things are looking really good and activities on the website continue to grow,” says Janet Kersey, executive vice president/COO for the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Birth Mother of Biketoberfest®.  “We are expecting a very nice crowd this year.”

Biketoberfest® offers bikers a four-day weekend crammed with sun, beaches, tons of custom bikes and more fun than should be legal.

There’s also an endless schedule of live entertainment.  One of this year’s highlights is a concert by Vince Neil of the legendary band Motley Crue on October 17 at Peabody Auditorium.

Established in 1992, Biketoberfest® is seventeen and going strong.  This highly anticipated motorcycle event only gets better with age.  Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts will rev around town and explore the sundry vendors, street festivals, charity rides, concerts, expos and other motorcycle-related activities.

For more information on Biketoberfest®, visit www.biketoberfest.org or call the Biketoberfest® hotline at 1-866-296-8970.  For year-round information on what the Daytona Beach area has to offer bikers, visit the sister web site of Biketoberfest.org — www.bikerbeach.com.

Riding the Ride, Living the Dream

October 9th, 2009
Ass Pad Tycoon

Ass Pad Tycoon

For most of us, riding a motorcycle is an exhilarating hobby – something we long for after a stressful week at work. And our favorite motorcycle rallies, like Sturgis or the upcoming Biketoberfest in Daytona, those are our vacations.

But some guys, like AIRHAWK’s Steve Peyton, have found a way to make riding for pleasure a paying gig. He has turned his passion for riding, especially riding comfortably, into a career.

Peyton came to work at The ROHO Group 20 years ago and ran the HR department. “I got tired of listening to people whine all day, so I followed my true passion and became an asspad salesman,” Peyton says. “I later became the Asspad Tycoon.”

When ROHO started working on the AIRHAWK motorcycle cushion, Peyton and his brother-in-law, Steve Faist got involved in its development. Peyton and Faist were both avid riders and had a lot of input into how the seat should work. In 2001, Peyton switched over to full-time motorcycle cushion sales and went to work redesigning the entire AIRHAWK brand, from product to packaging to edgier marketing.

Peyton and Faist did their first bike rally in Daytona in 1997 and have returned to it every year since. Peyton has ridden countless miles on his motorcycle, attending bike rallies all over the country, sitting comfortably on the latest AIRHAWK cushion. Yes, it’s truly part of his job description to get out there and ride for days to test and perfect the AIRHAWK, and to hang out at bike rallies to do his part to save other riders’ asses. Like they say, it’s a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it.

Peyton will be riding his new custom AIRHAWK bike to Daytona. If you’re heading to Biketoberfest, look for him at J & P Cycles in Destination Daytona. See you October 15 – 18 in Florida!

AIRHAWK’s Ass Pad Tycoon Riding Klockwerks Custom Motorcycle to Daytona Biketoberfest Rally

Custom AIRHAWK Motorcycle

Custom AIRHAWK Motorcycle

If ever there was a man to put his ass on the line for AIRHAWK and the pursuit of great rides for all, it’s Steve Peyton, our guru of motorcycle cushion design.  For every new design of cushion AIRHAWK creates, Peyton slaps the prototype on his own bike and rides countless miles to rallies and
events to make sure it keeps his butt happy – and does everything else it’s designed to do.

Peyton is testing two new AIRHAWK cushions on his upcoming ride to Biketoberfest in Daytona next month.  He’ll be riding on his new tricked out AIRHAWK custom bike built by Brian Klock and his Krew at Klockwerks.  The motorcycle proudly displays his job title, Ass Pad Tycoon.

Watch for Steve Peyton on the road from Belleville, IL to sunny Daytona next month. Biketoberfest is October 15 – 18.  More to come on this bike rally!  See you there!

Are you going to Biketoberfest?  What will you be riding?
